Bryan Stevenson was a young Alabama lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need; the poor, the wrongly condemned and the mentally disabled, trapped in the farthest reaches of the criminal justice system. He has gone on to be one of the most celebrated and influential anti-death penalty activists and crusaders for justice alive today. At this event, he will be talking about his book Just Mercy — an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted lawyer’s coming of age, a moving portrait of the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of justice.
