In this talk entitled Greek Tragedies and Modern Warfare, Bryan Doerries explains how he uses the power of theatre and the Ancient Greek tragedies for an extraordinary project that he calls The Theatre of War. Performing to soldiers, US cadets and survivors of hurricanes, Doerries uses classical texts and contemporary language to inspire discussions that help people express and deal with their experiences.

The Theatre of War is a passionate, humane, and purposeful book that shows how suffering and healing are part of an eternally replicable process, and argues that the great tragedies of the Greeks can still light a clear path forward through contemporary society’s most tangled issues.
