Two Scribe books on the International Dublin Literary Award Longlist

Two Scribe are on the International Dublin Literary Award longlist this year – Peggy Frew with her novel Hope Farm, and Tommy Wieringa with These are the Names. They were nominated for the prestigious award by invited public libraries from across the world on the basis of 'high literary merit.'

Peggy Frew's debut novel Hope Farm is the story of Silver and her mother, Ishtar, who falls for the charismatic Miller and moves them all to a rural hippie commune to make a new start. At Hope Farm, Silver finds unexpected friendship and, at last, a place to call home. But it is also here that, at just thirteen, she is thrust into an unrelenting adult world – and the walls begin to come tumbling down, with deadly consequences.

These Are the Names by Tommy Wieringa centres around Pontus Beg, a police commissionor investigating a murder linked to a group of refugees that have appeared in his quiet border town on the steppe. With a rare blend of humour and wisdom, Tommy Wieringa links man’s dark nature with the question of who we are and whether redemption is possible.
