Olivia Yallop was a digital strategist and commentator on technology…
DiscoverScribe is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Olivia Yallop, author of Break The Internet: in pursuit of influence, published by Scribe in 2021. Exploring the world and economy of influencers, it was featured in The Guardian and on BBC Radio 4's 'Start the Week', and saw Olivia give talks at Cheltenham Literature Festival and Berwins Salon North.
Olivia was a fiercely intelligent, perceptive, and charmingly funny writer and speaker, with a rare talent for communicating complicated ideas with wit and verve. She will be fondly remembered by the Scribe team for her humour, enthusiasm, and generosity.
Publisher Molly Slight said: ‘Everyone at Scribe was so devastated to hear about Livvi’s death. It is a huge shock and tragedy. From our first meeting, she impressed us all so much — she was clearly highly intelligent and knowledgeable, but also incredibly personable and humble. She was so obviously a literary star-in-the-making, and we were delighted when she chose to work with us. This was all reconfirmed when we started to work with her editorially. She was incredibly thoughtful and responsive, always willing to push herself to do better, with a natural flair for storytelling and a wonderful sense of humour. It was fantastic to see her talent celebrated in the reviews and media attention the book received when it came out, and we were all so proud of her success. We are very sad to have lost such a brilliant young writer and person, and our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.’
Our deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.
