Richard Humphreys joins Scribe UK

Richard Humphreys has joined Scribe UK in the newly created post of Sales Director. Formerly Non Fiction Category Manager at Waterstones head office, Humphreys spent ten years in the central buying team, where his most recent role put him at the head of nonfiction sales across the chain. Under his tenure the retailer saw category and market-share growth and an uptick in exclusive and signed editions. At Scribe, Humphreys will primarily be responsible for sales strategy and relationships with the trade.

Humphreys says, 'I am hugely excited to be joining Scribe and the Independent Alliance, whose publishing I've always admired from afar. I cannot wait to get started.'

Scribe is an Australian-owned independent publisher specialising in nonfiction and literary fiction, active in the UK since 2013. A member of the Independent Alliance, its titles are sold and distributed by Faber, and include the Sunday Times bestseller Gut by Giulia Enders, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, and the Baillie Gifford Prize shortlisted Guest House for Young Widows by Azadeh Moaveni. UK Publisher and Managing Director Sarah Braybrooke says, 'Scribe has come a long way in the seven years we have been publishing in the UK, but there's still plenty of potential for growth ahead. With his extensive knowledge of the market, there is no one better placed to help us with this than Richard. We are really delighted he is joining the team.'
