Children's picture book imprint Scribble has acquired new titles by two of its bestselling authors, both to publish before the end of 2021.
Mr Shaha's Marvellous Machines is Alom Shaha's follow-up to his 2017 hit activity book Mr Shaha's Recipes for Wonder: adventures in science round the kitchen table, which was praised by parents, librarians and teachers alike as a tool for engaging children in science. In his new book, Shaha draws on his childhood experiences in Bangladesh, the laws of physics and the principles of sustainability to show parents and children how they can make their own toys using found objects. A parent, teacher, science writer, and filmmaker, Shaha has spent most of his professional life trying to share his passion for science and education with the public. Mr Shaha’s Marvellous Machines will publish in July. World rights were acquired by Scribble's publisher Miriam Rosenbloom from Catherine Clarke at Felicity Bryan Associates.
Rosenbloom has also acquired UK and CW (ex Canada) rights to A Year in Fleurville: recipes from balconies, rooftops, and gardens, written and illustrated by Felicita Sala. This is the follow-up to her popular 2019 children's cookbook Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street, which was praised by Nigella Lawson and Yotam Ottolenghi among others. A Year in Fleurville follows the inhabitants of a small town as they grow and cook their own produce over the year, with a seasonal recipe for every month. It will be published in November.
