DiscoverScribe has acquired a new memoir from Aeon senior editor Marina Benjamin, titled A Little Give: the unsung, unseen, undone work of women.
This is Benjamin's third book of interlinked, autobiographical essays, following on from The Middlepause and Insomnia, and forming what Scribe is calling her 'midlife trilogy'. A Little Give concerns the tasks that constitute what was once 'women's work' — cooking, cleaning, caring for others — and draws on the work of Natalia Ginzberg, Paula Rego, Virginia Woolf and more, as well as her own upbringing as the child of immigrants.
Publisher Moly Slight said: ‘It is a privilege to be publishing Marina Benjamin’s third book with Scribe, which interrogates ‘women’s work’ with her usual sensitivity, intellectual rigour, and literary flair. This is a fitting final installment to Benjamin’s mid-life trilogy, after The Middlepause and Insomnia; the culmination of years of deep thought and reflection on her own life and feminist beliefs; a book that all women (and men) should read.’
World English rights were acquired from Rebecca Carter at Janklow and Nesbit. It will be published in April 2023.
