Scribe to repackage and retitle The Art of More by Michael Brooks

Scribe will rebrand and retitle Michael Brooks’s 2021 book The Art of More for its B-format paperback release this September. It will now be named The Maths That Made Us: how numbers created civilisation and will be packaged with a colourful new cover to fit it more neatly into the popular maths market.

Originally published in 2021, The Maths That Made Us takes readers on a fascinating journey through civilisation, exploring how maths has shaped us from the ancient world to today. It was praised by the likes of Tim Harford (‘Delightful’), Angela Saini (‘A tour de force’), the New Statesman (‘A new way of thinking’), and Jo Marchant (‘Inspiring’). Brooks is the author of the highly acclaimed The Quantum Astrologer’s Handbook, and the bestselling 13 Things That Don't Make Sense, as well as several other titles. He also hosted the Science(ish) podcast alongside Rick Edwards.

About the rebrand, Scribe Publisher Molly Slight said: Michael Brooks’s book about how mathematics has shaped our world is brilliantly entertaining and informative, with a fantastic cast of quirky characters brought to life on the page by the lively, engaging writing style he has come to be known for. With this new edition, we hope to reach many more readers who we are certain will love this fascinating book.’

Scribe’s sales director, Richard Humphreys, said: ‘Michael’s new paperback package will bring him to an even greater audience. His brilliant narrative style of nonfiction writing is tailor made for this format. So having flexibility in our paperback strategy gives us the opportunity to drive further interest and retailer support for this wonderful book.'

The Maths That Made Us will be published in September at £9.99.
