Girl Waits With Gun longlisted for HWA Debut Crown Award

The first novel in the Kopp Sisters series by Amy Stewart, Girl Waits With Gun, has been longlisted for an Historical Writers' Assosiation Debut Crown Award, awarded to debut novels in the historical fiction genre. Girl Waits With Gun is based on the true story of Constance Kopp, who became the first woman deputy sheriff in the US in early 1914 New Jersey, and her sisters. This January Scribe published the second novel in the series, Lady Cop Makes Trouble, and the third will be released next year.

The judges describe the novel as 'Both historical romp and vivid, thought-provoking evocation, with a particularly endearing heroine.' We look forward to hearing the shortlist announcements next week on July 13!
