What would you do with a public typewriter?
This Independent Bookshop Week, Scribe UK are giving a limited number of independent bookshops a working typewriter to set up in their shop to celebrate the publication of Notes from a Public Typewriter by Michael Gustafson and Oliver Uberti.
This collection of confessional, hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking notes written anonymously on a public typewriter will be published on 13 June 2019 and is the perfect book for readers of PostSecret and Other People's Love Letters. It collates musings from bookshop owner Michael Gustafson's customers, along with essays and photos, to create an ode to community and the written word that will surprise, delight, and inspire.
If you would like the opportunity to have a working typewriter in your shop throughout Independent Bookshop Week to engage customers and hopefully bring in some new ones, Scribe UK would love to hear from you! To be considered, please send a 1-page proposal to Molly Slight (molly[at]scribepub.co.uk) outlining what you would do with your public typewriter. This could include how you would set it up and display it, how you would promote it to the local community and writing groups, how it would tie in with any author events you have planned for IBW, or anything else you can think of.
Notes from a Public Typewriter (9781911617754) will be published on 13 June 2019 as a £9.99 small-format hardback.
