Scribe publisher Henry Rosenbloom has acquired the latest book from the NYT bestselling author Charles Graeber. The Breakthrough is a science-based narrative that follows Dan Chen, part of a new generation of researchers, as he cracks the centuries-old mystery behind unleashing the body's innate defence system to defeat cancer. The book brings to light the rapid advances in cancer treatment in the last six years, as well as exploring in depth the idea that our own bodies may be the best weapon for recognising and killing cancer cells. This research heralds a new approach to cancer treatment that brings not just hope but optimism for a cure.
Charles Graeber is a former medical school MD MPH student, a contributing editor to Wired, and also contributes to publications like the New York Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, National Geographic, GQ, Vogue, and many others. He has received many awards, and his work has been featured on CBS, NPR, CNN, the BBC, and numerous other media outlets.
Scribe acquired UK & Commonwealth rights at auction from Angharad Kowal at Writers House UK. The Breakthrough will be published in Australia and the UK in 2017.
Henry said: ‘We are thrilled to have acquired this important book. It promises to be as significant as Norman Doidge's The Brain that Changes Itself.’
