Suzuki Toshitaka (born 1983) is an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo and an expert in animal linguistics. His research on Japanese tits discovered linguistic abilities in the species and helped establish the field of animal linguistics, which seeks to decipher the languages of animals.He has received numerous honours, including the Commendation for Science and Technology, the Miyadi Award, the Japan Ethological Society Award, and the Public of the Year Award 2025. I Can Understand the Language of Birds is his first book.
