1947 longlisted for the Warwick Women in Translation Prize

Elisabeth Åbrink's 1947: when now begins, translated from the Swedish by Fiona Graham, has been longlisted for the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation 2018. The judges for the £1,000 prize, to be shared between author and translator, are Amanda Hopkinson, Boyd Tonkin and Susan Bassnett and the winner of the award will be announced on November 16th.

The prize aims to addres the gender imbalance in translated literature and increase the number of international women’s voices accessible by a British and Irish readership. 1947 is a chonricle of its eponymous year, interweaving the social and political forces that will go on to govern all our lives during the next 70 years.
