The Society of Authors (SoA) has announced the shortlists for the nine prizes to be awarded at the 2025 Translation Prizes ceremony.
More than £32,000 in prize money will be shared among the winners and runners-up, celebrating outstanding translations of prose, poetry and non-fiction.
Charlotte Collins has been shortlisted for the 2025 Schlegel-Tieck Prize for a translation of Darkenbloom by Eva Menasse.
The Schlegel-Tieck Prize is an annual award for translations into English of full-length German works of literary merit and general interest. The winner is awarded £3,000 and a runner-up is awarded £1,000. The prize was first awarded in 1965 and is named after August Wilhelm Schlegel and Ludwig Tieck, two poets of the Romantic period. This year’s judges are Shaun Whiteside, Anju Okhandiar and Kerri Andrews.
The 2025 Translation Prizes ceremony will be held in February 2026.
